A principal in our eminent domain practice group, Claudia Gorham brings over 10 years of experience to the firm, primarily in complex civil litigation with an emphasis on eminent domain, employment law and civil rights. Her employment litigation practice involved defending employers in high-stakes litigation matters arising from traditional labor disputes to state and federal laws, such as the Civil Rights Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, the Americans with Disability Act and the Occupational Safety and Health Act. Claudia's practice also included construction defect, civil rights and personal injury cases, as well as administrative law, medical malpractice, wrongful death and healthcare/elder abuse cases. She has represented both public and private employers, including the County of Alameda, First Healthcare Corp. and Hillhaven nursing homes, as well as individual plaintiffs. Claudia litigates in state and federal courts and before administrative agencies.Claudia received her J.D. in 1989 from the University of California, Hastings School of the Law. While attending law school, she was a note editor for the Communications and Entertainment Law Journal, a feature writer for the Hastings Law News and ranked fourth place in a moot court competition for best brief. She received an A.B. degree in 1984 in Radio-Television-Film from the University of Missouri, Columbia, where she graduated cum laude with honors.Claudia is a member of the Bar Association of San Francisco, the American Bar Association, the Earl Warren American Inn of Court, the Alameda County Bar Association, the International Right of Way Association (Chapters 2 & 27) and the California Redevelopment Association. In addition to being a member of the State Bar of California, Claudia is admitted to practice in the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and the United States District Court for the Northern District of California. |
