Clare Hamill leads the development of new business and growth initiatives for Nike. Her responsibilities include helping Nike create new opportunities to serve all the athletes of the world.
When Clare is not at Nike, she is spending time with her daughter, trail running or road cycling. She also serves as board president of the Children’s Cancer Association, where she has volunteered since 1995. Her work there involves raising funds, and developing and delivering innovative programs for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families.
The defining moment in sports for Clare is the moment when Joan Benoit broke away from the pack during the first women’s Olympic marathon in 1984. The announcers kept saying the other marathon runners would catch her, but they never did, Clare recalled. I’m a big Joanie fan, she said. I’ve always been impressed by how she would never cut corners, but would always take the widest path. |
