Christopher G. Roberts, PhD, has been a director since September 1992 and served as Executive Vice President of ResMed from August 1992 to January 2004. He also served as a director from August 1989 to November 1990. Dr. Roberts is Chief Executive Officer of Cochlear Limited (ASX:COH), the world leader in cochlear implants for severely to profoundly deaf people. He is Chairman of Research Australia and a member of Australia's National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) for the 2003-2005 triennium. Dr. Roberts has worked in the medical device industry for over 29 years, including other positions as: Vice-President, Telectronics Inc (cardiac pacemakers), Vice-President, Electro-Biology Inc (orthopaedics), President, BGS Medical Inc (orthopaedics) and CEO Domedica Pty Ltd (artificial kidneys). Dr. Roberts holds a B.E. in chemical engineering with honors from the University of New South Wales, an M.B.A. from Macquarie University, and a Ph.D. in biomedical engineering from the University of New South Wales. He is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering and a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. |
