Dr. Christopher Jaynes received his BS degree with honors from the School of Computer Science at the University of Utah in 1994. His doctoral degree was earned at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst in 1998 where he worked on camera calibration and aerial image interpretation technologies now in use by the federal government. He is a recipient of the National Science Foundation career award, one of the foundation's most prestigious awards that recognizes the nation's emerging leaders within their discipline. He is the author and co-editor of several books and scientific articles, is the primary inventor of several patents, and is an active member of the entrepreneurial community. Dr. Jaynes founded the Metaverse Lab, a laboratory dedicated to addressing problems in multimedia technologies. The laboratory managed several million dollars of research related to video surveillance, human-computer interaction, and display technologies. The lab was recognized as one of the leading laboratories for computer vision and interactive media and has contributed to self-calibrating displays, video tracking and surveillance, illumination models and projective geometry. In 2000, he helped found the University of Kentucky Center for Visualization and Virtual Environments where he secured over 5 million dollars of funding to study problems related to virtual reality and novel display systems. In 2004, Dr. Jaynes helped found Mersive Technologies and now serves as the company Chief Technical Officer. |
