Chris Butler focuses his practice primarily on employment litigation matters with an extensive background in tort defense practice. Prior to joining Ford & Harrison, Chris tried a multitude of cases, predominantly within the areas of general liability and workers' compensation. Earlier in his career, he litigated for a number of years in Chattanooga, Tennessee, whereby he received the Chattanooga Young Lawyer of the Year award and served as Secretary/Treasurer and District Representative for the Chattanooga and Tennessee Bar Associations (YLD).
Chris is licensed to practice before all Georgia and Tennessee state courts and the U.S. District Courts for the Northern District of Georgia and the Eastern District of Tennessee. He is a member of the Federal, Georgia, Tennessee, American, Atlanta and Chattanooga Bar Associations, the Tennessee Defense Lawyer's Association and the Tennessee Trial Lawyer's Association.
Chris frequently lectures on employment and workers' compensation matters. He recently authored an article, "Are Undocumented Workers Entitled to Workers' Compensation Benefits? - An Examination of Recent National Trends."
During law school, Chris was Research Editor of the Law and Psychology Review and completed a course of study in European Union Law at the University of Freibourg, in Freibourg, Switzerland.
Chris successfully defended a housing authority before the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals in September 2007.
