Mr. Olsen is responsible for evaluating the financial and strategic options of financial institutions, performing financial analyses and valuations of banks and thrifts, facilitating merger and acquisition transactions, and assessing the impact of national and regional trends on the financial services industry, with a particular emphasis on the Southeast. Working with independent community banks, regional institutions, and nationwide financial holding companies throughout his career, Mr. Olsen has advised on a wide variety of transactions ranging in value from $10 million to in excess of $3 billion in consideration value.
Prior to joining Hovde Financial, Mr. Olsen was with First Annapolis, a mergers and acquisitions advisory and management consulting firm focused on the financial services, payments, and financial technology industries. While there, he supported an array of capital and consulting engagements on behalf of many of the industry's largest banks, specialty finance companies, credit card issuers, and transaction processors. Previously, Mr. Olsen served with Adelphi Capital in Washington, DC, where he analyzed existing and potential private equity investments. Moreover, Mr. Olsen has also worked for both a three-branch community bank as well as for Norwest, the predecessor of Wells Fargo.
Mr. Olsen is a frequent speaker on industry trends and developments. In particular, he spoke at the 2005 Tennessee Banker's Association Annual Meeting on the topic of Value: Measuring, Maximizing, and Protecting the Value of Your Institution.
Mr. Olsen received from The George Washington University in Washington, DC, a Bachelor of Business Administration with concentrations in finance and financial institutions. In addition, he has undertaken graduate coursework through the ABA 's American Institute of Banking. Mr. Olsen is actively involved in George Washington University's alumni association, including having participated in panel discussions for the Graduate School of Business and Public Management on numerous issues related to investment banking. He is licensed with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority as a registered representative. Originally from the Midwest, Mr. Olsen resides in Washington, DC. |
