Christopher represents clients in business and insurance-driven litigation. His particular focus areas include negotiation, litigation and resolution of general business, contract and commercial disputes, allegations of fraud or management malfeasance, and business disputes involving claims of breach of duty or violations of public policy or industry procedure. A significant portion of Christopher’s practice consists of representing the manufacturing sector of the economy in reportable events, asbestos-related, and product liability claims pending in various jurisdictions throughout the United States. Christopher focuses on the management of multi-party litigation in this context, which involves the management of joint prosecution and joint defense privileges, and the conduct of litigation pursuant to complex litigation manuals or case management orders. He also handles the representation of policyholders in commercial general liability policy coverage disputes as such issues often arise in this context, and represents manufacturers in efforts to obtain contribution and indemnity from formerly associated business entities for product liability-related claims. Christopher has significant civil trial experience. In addition, he has arbitrated numerous substantial matters before private judicial arbitrators and mediators, JAMS, and the National Association of Securities Dealers. He also has presented emergency writs for consideration by the United States Court of Appeal, Ninth Circuit and the courts of appeal for the State of California. Christopher is a member of the California State Bar Association. Prior to joining Calfee in 2004, he was a partner with the Los Angeles office of Meserve, Mumper & Hughes LLP. |
