As the son of a high school theatre instructor, Chris Purpura has been at home in theatrical facilities his entire life. This exposure kindled an early interest and passion for the arts, which ultimately led to a Bachelors Degree in Theatre Design and Business from Austin College. After graduation and a brief period in graduate school, Chris worked for the Dallas Children's Theatre (DCT) as a technician and a scenic and lighting designer for multiple main stage productions. He also traveled the states as technical director for the DCT National Touring Company production of Heidi. Chris then pursued a position as Technical Director/ Designer for the City of Topeka and worked as a freelance technical director for several regional theatres in the East California area. It was during this time that Chris discovered his interest in theatrical architecture and consulting. Today, his experience utilizing a variety of theatrical venues provides him a unique perspective on his work as an Associate with Jones & Phillips. Chris continues to freelance as scenic and lighting designer as well as volunteering his talents for local arts organizations. He is also a member of the United States Institute of Theater Technology, Entertainment Services and Technology Association, and a member of the International Alliance for Theatrical Stage Employees local 174, currently serving as a Trustee. In his free time Chris pursues fishing and golf, neither very well nor at the same time. A native Texan, Chris is an amiable fella, but he and Winter do not get along. |
