Christopher L. Powers CFA, is a Managing Director of FMV Opinions and heads the firm's St. Louis, Missouri, office. Mr. Powers has performed valuations and other financial analyses for companies throughout their life cycle from initial start-up to final liquidation. In addition to valuing common stock and business enterprises, Mr. Powers has performed analyses on a variety of assets, including intangible assets (patents, trademarks, and copyrights), preferred stock, stock options, convertible securities, stock appreciation rights, limited and general partnership interests, and real estate. These analyses have been performed in connection with mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures (structuring and negotiating terms, purchase price allocation, fairness opinions, and solvency opinions), general corporate planning, liquidation, employee stock ownership plans, bankruptcy, marital dissolution, litigation support, and estate and gift tax matters.
Prior to joining FMV, Mr. Powers directed the efforts of a multibillion-dollar corporation's strategy and acquisition functions and was a Managing Director of The Genesis Group, a regional financial consulting firm specializing in mergers and acquisitions, corporate valuation, and financing. He was also affiliated with Price Waterhouse in their Litigation and Bankruptcy Group and spent three years with Houlihan, Lokey, Howard and Zukin, a specialty investment banking firm.
Mr. Powers has taught corporate finance and strategy courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels and has provided expert testimony services in the area of valuation.
Mr. Powers has earned the designation of Chartered Financial Analyst. He graduated from California State University Fullerton with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Theory and Business Administration and received his Masters in Business Administration from the University of California Los Angeles.
