Christopher J. Papa joined Post Properties, Inc. on December 1, 2003 as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.
Mr. Papa has significant experience with public real estate companies, having advised a number of clients on a wide-range of issues during his over 15 year career in public accounting. Prior to Post, he was a partner in the Real Estate Services Group at BDO Seidman, LLP in New York, where he focused on a range of accounting and consulting matters. From June 2002 to June 2003, Mr. Papa was the Chief Financial Officer of Plast-O-Matic Valves, Inc. in Cedar Grove, NJ, and prior to June 2002 spent ten years with Arthur Andersen LLP in Atlanta, GA, where he was an audit partner in the Real Estate and Financial Services Group. Among Mr. Papa's clients at Arthur Andersen were a number of real estate companies, including Gables Residential, Weeks Corporation, Merry Land, Roberts Realty Investors, Trammell Crow Residential, Wells Real Estate and Lodgian, among others.
Mr. Papa has a strong professional background in accounting, SEC compliance, tax and risk management. He has also provided advice to clients in the context of significant transactions, such as mergers, acquisitions, dispositions, joint ventures, public offerings and other capital raising transactions. His experiences include significant involvement in the initial and follow-on secondary public offerings for Gables Residential and Weeks Corporation, the lettered-stock recapitalization of Georgia-Pacific's Timber Company and the sale-leaseback of a major healthcare company's investment in real estate.
Mr. Papa graduated with a BS in Accounting from Clemson University, and is a CPA.
