Christopher J. Coughlin is executive vice president and chief financial officer of Tyco International Ltd. Coughlin joined Tyco in March 2005 after serving as chief operating officer at Interpublic Group, a leading global advertising and marketing services holding company. Coughlin came to Interpublic from Pharmacia Corporation (acquired by Pfizer in April 2003), where he was chief financial officer. Pharmacia was formed as a result of the merger between Pharmacia & Upjohn and Monsanto in early 2000. Coughlin was executive vice president and chief financial officer of Pharmacia and Upjohn, a position he held since 1998. In 1996, Coughlin joined Nabisco as vice president and chief financial officer. In 1997, he became president of Nabisco International and held the position until joining Pharmacia and Upjohn. Coughlin entered the pharmaceutical industry in 1981 when he joined Sterling Drug Inc. There, he held a number of management positions including corporate audit director, vice president of finance international, and vice president of worldwide consumer healthcare. In 1992, Coughlin was named chief financial officer of Sterling and was appointed to the board of directors. Coughlin began his career with Arthur Young & Company (now Ernst & Young) after earning a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Boston College in 1974. He also serves on the board of directors for Dun & Bradstreet, a leading provider of global business information services.
