J. Christopher Kinsman's practice focuses on real estate development and mortgage lending law and regulation. His practice encompasses all aspects of acquiring, conveying, financing, developing and operating residential and commercial real estate. He represents large national and regional, as well as local entrepreneurial, developers of mixed use, office and multi-family projects throughout Colorado. Chris is an expert in forming and advising planned communities and condominiums on behalf of builders, developers and converters. Chris is also a specialist in all aspects of affordable housing and has advised Forest City Stapleton, Lowry Redevelopment Authority, Douglas County, Summit County, Broomfield, Denver and several developers on formation, operation and compliance issues in connection with affordable housing programs, including the use of complex land trusts, deed restrictions, covenants and ground lease structures. Chris also represents mortgage companies, title companies and related businesses in their formation, regulatory and transactional matters, with a particular focus on Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA) compliance matters. Mr. Kinsman has published articles on common interest communities, mixed use development, timeshares, RESPA, employment law, arbitration and attorney fee matters, and he received the Colorado Bar Association's award for article of the year. Mr. Kinsman has also published several articles of interest to the mortgage lending and real estate development industries. Mr. Kinsman worked for Egyptian attorneys in Cairo and Alexandria, advising foreign investors on Egyptian business regulations. Mr. Kinsman is a member of the Downtown Denver Partnership's Housing Council, NAIOP, and has performed volunteer work for the Legal Aid Society of Denver, Habitat for Humanity, and the Big Brother organization.
