Christopher J. Benjamin is senior vice president, chief financial officer and treasurer of Alexander & Baldwin, Inc. Benjamin joined A&B in August 2001 as director, corporate development and planning, and was promoted to vice president on April 24, 2003. On February 9, 2004, he was promoted to chief financial officer. In this capacity, he oversees all financial matters of A&B and its subsidiaries. He also directs the company’s corporate development activity. Effective May 1, 2006, he took on the responsibilities of treasurer.
Prior to joining A&B, Benjamin was vice president of ChannelPoint, Inc., a software development firm. Previously, Benjamin was vice president of AmMed International, Inc., an international health care company. He also held positions with The Queen's Health Systems, with Booz Allen Hamilton, with Sony Corporation and with General Motors.
Benjamin is a graduate of the University of Michigan and holds a master's degree in business administration from Harvard Business School.
A Hawaii resident since 1992, Benjamin has served in non-profit leadership capacities at the local and national level. Currently he serves on the Board of Directors of the Hawaii Chamber of Commerce, the Institute for Human Services and the Hawaii Children's Trust Fund Alliance. Benjamin is a past president of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation - Hawaii Chapter, served on the International Lay Review Committee of JDRF, and co-chairs a support group for children with diabetes in Hawaii. |
