Christopher Clement was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer in July 2004 after joining Savient in May 2002 as President and Chief Operating Officer. From September 2000 until joining us, Mr. Clement served as CEO and Chairman of Epicyte Pharmaceutical, Inc. Prior to joining Epicyte, he held the positions of Executive Vice President and Senior Vice President, Chief Marketing Officer at Ares-Serono Group. From 1988 to 1997, Mr. Clement held a number of senior management positions at Searle Pharmaceuticals, including Vice President of Marketing, Vice President of Corporate Product Planning, Vice President, General Manager of Global Franchises, and Division President. Mr. Clement also held management positions at Ciba-Geigy Pharmaceuticals and Merck and Co.
