Mr. Coleman oversees business operations at SM, covering areas such as client relations, business partner relations, proposal and contracts administration, research and analysis, marketing, business development, scheduling and resource management, and internal business operations. He works directly with the President and CEO to establish and monitor operational business objectives on a routine basis to ensure progress toward SM's strategic business plan. Prior to being appointed as COO, Mr. Coleman served as a Senior Vice President for SM in which he provided direct management of the regulatory and policy research, analysis, and content development for various business lines, focusing on the application of federal policy and regulation to "real world" health care industry issues. In this capacity, he lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of business lines involving compliance with HIPAA, Medicare, Medicaid, pharmaceutical regulations, and other health care policies and regulations. He also lead strategic and business planning activities for various business lines involving many of SM's Alliance Partners. Mr. Coleman has published numerous articles on health care policy and regulation, including analyses of various Medicare rules and initiatives of the HHS Office of Inspector General. His published works also include contribution to chapters in various books on health care regulation, and authorship of a book recognized by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) for hospital self-assessment of the HIPAA privacy and security regulations. Before joining SM, Mr. Coleman worked in long term care administration, advising on the implementation of the skilled nursing facility (SNF) prospective payment system (PPS), including organizational and financial impact analyses of SNF PPS. He also has previous regulatory compliance experience in the pharmaceutical distribution industry. Mr. Coleman holds a Master of Public Health from Saint Louis University School of Public Health, and is an inductee into the National Public Health Honor Society. |
