Dr. Christopher A. McCormack in addition to his position as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer with Global was the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Irish Based Maxol & CB Biofuels. Chris is the inventor of the DiGenter Process for BioEthanol production from biomass as an automotive fuel, a process for which he was awarded the first of his many patents in Ireland on 31st January 1996 under the 1992 Irish Patents Act (Specification number S66989). This first Irish patent led to the award of British, European, South African and World Wide Patents (No's: 2186289, 59108, 96/4098) for Chris's DiGenter Process. Chris's comittment and forsight in the field of BioEthanol, was further rewarded when in 1995 at Section 116 of the Irish Finance Act the Irish Minister for Finance introduced into law the first ever income tax derogations and reliefs specifically to encourage the development if BioFuels in Ireland: partially at least in response to the lobbying efforts of Chris and his colleagues in Maxol & CB Biofuels. This ground breaking legislation and subsequent Irish Government initiatives have led not only to an enhanced public awareness of environmental matters but to a developing and vibrant BioFuels industry in Ireland.
Chris was educated at University College Dublin from where he graduated with a B.Sc., 1st Class Hons, in 1995, and then with a Ph.D., 1997. A postdoctoral alumnus of the University of California at Berkeley, California, Chris holds an N.I.H.C. awarded by the National Institutes of Health, in Bethesda Maryland USA, and is both a distinguished Fulbright Scholar and a Fogarty Fellow, with elected memberships to both the Physiological Society and the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology. Chris has been commended by the Nuffield Foundation and the American Physiological Society and is the author of over 100 technical and scientific contributions including significant original research publications in world renowned academic journals.
