Mr. Rothe practices in the firm's Mechanical, Design, Biomedical and Optics Practice Group, and counsels clients in many areas of intellectual property law. From his prior experience in engineering consulting, Mr. Rothe understands that clients expect assistance in many areas of expertise. With this in mind, Mr. Rothe helps clients make important business decisions by providing: Legal opinions on patent and trademark infringement Studies to assess the availability of patent and trademark protection Evaluation of patent portfolios for clients interested in acquiring or licensing patents. Mr. Rothe has also helped clients acquire and protect intellectual property rights through: Prosecution of utility and design patent applications Prosecution of trademark and copyright applications Commencement of trademark opposition and cancellation proceedings in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office Representation in patent and trademark infringement suits Commencement of domain name dispute proceedings After graduating from Pennsylvania State University in 1992 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering with distinction, Mr. Rothe worked as an environmental engineering consultant for four years, designing facilities for water treatment and groundwater remediation. Mr. Rothe went on to receive a Juris Doctor degree from Villanova University School of Law, where he served as Executive Editor of the Villanova Sports and Entertainment Law Journal. Mr. Rothe has spoken on different topics of intellectual property law to members of the ASME International Mechanical Engineering Congress, and Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Southeast Pennsylvania. Mr. Rothe is registered to practice as a patent attorney before the United States Patent and Trademark Office, and is admitted to practice before United States District Courts in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and New Jersey, and the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. Mr. Rothe currently serves on the firm's Marketing Committee and is Editor in Chief for the firm's Newsletter, "Insight."
