Christine Pepe is an associate in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP based in the New York office. As a member of the Intellectual Property, Media & Technology (IPMT) Department, Christine has developed an extensive and diverse Intellectual Property practice in litigation as well as related licensing and contract matters. Specifically in the copyright and entertainment areas, Christine has represented film studios and production companies as well as independent artists and musicians. In the digital rights area, Christine has litigated claims under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act and counseled on related issues, e.g., internet piracy and circumvention of copy control and access control technologies.
As a supplement to her practice, Christine has demonstrated a commitment to pro bono service. Through the Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts, Christine represents independent artists (i.e., authors, screenwriters, musicians and visual artists) in copyright, entertainment and related licensing matters. She also completed a four-month position at the King's County District Attorney's Office in Brooklyn as a pro bono assistant district attorney. While at the Brooklyn DA's office, she served as lead counsel in both jury and bench trials.
Christine earned her law degree from Boston University School of Law and her bachelor's degree in biology and philosophy from Boston College.
She is admitted to practice in New York and before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, as well as the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. Christine is a member of the American Bar Association and the New York State Bar Association, including its Entertainment, Arts and Sports Law Section.
