Christian Pestre is Executive Vice-President and Chief Strategist, Investment Division, at the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec since September 2006. In that capacity, he advises the Chief Financial Officer in particular on the optimization of the Caisse’s global portfolio, the allocation of active risk to investment groups, and the evaluation and implementation of new investment strategies. He is also responsible for managing the Fixed Income Relative Value portfolio, which is part of the Asset Allocation portfolio.
Mr. Pestre sits on the Caisse’s Executive Committee and Investment Division Committee.
Background
Christian Pestre joined the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec’s Fixed Income department in 1997, where, until 2003 he successively held the titles of Portfolio Manager, Director, Senior Director and Associate Vice-President. From 2003 to 2006, he was Executive Vice-President, Absolute Return.
Before joining the Caisse, Mr. Pestre spent eight years on Wall Street in fixed income trading and research. At Credit Lyonnais Securities (New York) from 1994 to 1997, he worked in structured fixed income products. At Lehman Brothers from 1989 to 1994, he developed fixed income analytics for the Mortgage-Backed Securities and Fixed Income Syndicate businesses.
Prior to that, Mr. Pestre worked in France for nine years holding management positions in real-time software systems development at Thomson-Syseca and in cartographic engineering at the Institut Géographique National.
Christian Pestre holds a Master of Science from École Polytechnique (Paris) and a Cartographic Engineering degree from École Nationale des Sciences Géographiques (Paris). |
