Chris Langford is a highly experienced dispute resolution lawyer whose practice encompasses a range of commercial disputes, in particular public and product liability and insurance market disputes.
Chris joined what is now the London office of Mayer Brown International llp in 1983 and was named Partner in 1990. The Legal 500 (2007) observed that clients hold him "in the highest regard" and see him as "an extremely safe pair of hands."

Commercial Litigation and Dispute Resolution: Chris handles a range of large, complex and/or sensitive commercial disputes, both contractual and in tort and often with a technical or forensic dimension. These include disputes in the chemicals, construction and engineering and logistics sectors and often involve working alongside experts from other disciplines, such as engineers, forensic scientists, accountants, or statisticians. Chris has also worked extensively with local lawyers in other jurisdictions in relation to claims brought outside the UK, and he has experience in a range of dispute-resolution techniques, including mediation.
Public and Product Liability: Chris represents clients in a variety of public and product liability claims. He often acts on behalf of insurers, frequently advising in the context of high-profile explosions, fires, flooding or similar incidents that have resulted in substantial property damage, business interruption or other financial losses, harm to the environment and/or fatalities or serious personal injuries. These actions may sometimes involve police, Health & Safety Executive or other investigations or product recalls, and they may include related advice on risk management issues.
Environmental Disputes: He advises clients engaged in controversies involving potential environmental liabilities, including claims resulting from instances of ground, air, or water contamination or serious incidents of flood damage. Chris has been acknowledged as a leading environmental litigator.
Insurance Market Disputes: He advises clients on intra-market issues, primarily involving policy coverage but which can also include claims against brokers and other professionals.
