Chris Jones is president of IHS Canada Ltd., and is based in Calgary. In that capacity, he is responsible for establishing the company's strategic vision and directing its operations. His philosophy of values-based leadership and progressive, humanistic business practices has enabled Chris to consistently lead the business unit to profitable growth.
Prior to joining IHS in 2000, Jones was general manager of AccuMap EnerData Ltd., and vice president and director of software development for QC Data Petroleum Data Services, which was acquired by IHS. A veteran of more than 23 years in the oil and gas industry, Chris has also held other senior management positions in the information technology, sales, marketing and consulting arenas.
A native of England, he received his bachelor's degree in marine earth science in 1979 from Kingston University, in Kingston-Upon-Thames, U.K., where he was awarded upper-second-class honors. Two years later, he received his master's degree (with distinction) in marine earth science from University College at the University of London.
A professional geologist, Chris is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta ( APEGGA), the Canadian Society of Petroleum Geologists (CSPG), and the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG). |
