Chris Y. Hwang is Senior Vice President and Director of Asian Markets, as well as Small Business Lending and Community Development.
While he was initially hired to assist the Bank in developing the Asian markets, Chris took over the Small Business Lending Department at Flushing Savings Bank in 2002, and turned an underperforming operation into a unit that makes a significant bank-wide contribution. Chris’ efforts have helped the Bank to earn a silver award through the SBA.
Chris Hwang is a seasoned banking executive with over 17 years of experience in the banking industry. Prior to joining Flushing Savings Bank, he was a Vice President of the Korean First Bank of New York responsible for the Commercial Lending, Real Estate Lending and the Investment departments. From 1989 to 1991, he held a management position implementing strategy to the Asian Markets at Long Island Savings Bank. Mr. Hwang received both a Master’s degree in Accounting and a Bachelor’s degree in Finance from C.W. Post College, Long Island University.
Mr. Hwang is currently serving on the Board of Trustees of Flushing Hospital & Medical Center; and the Board of Directors of both the Queens Theatre in the Park and the Korean Youth Foundation. |
