Chris Chester was the 56th selection (2nd round) of the 2006 NFL Draft... Chester is the 6th Raven to be drafted out of Oklahoma (WR Mark Clayton, 1st round, and LB Dan Cody, 2nd round, in the 2005 draft; TE Trent Smith, 7th round in 2003; DT Martin Chase, 5th round and T Sammy Williams, 6th round in the 1998 draft)...Played TE for the Sooners until his senior year.

Highlights:

Found a home on the OL as a senior...Came to the Sooner program as a 220-pound TE, adding over 60 pounds...Gained weight by eating peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and drinking chocolate protein shakes...Has superior athletic ability among most collegiate down linemen...Redshirted as a freshman in 2001...Appeared in 7 games as a reserve TE in 2002...Sidelined by a knee injury for 5 games in 2003.

Said Eric DeCosta, Ravens director of college scouting on Chester: "He's probably one of the best athletes on the offensive line to come out in the last 5 years. There are probably some guys that are similar, but he's pretty gifted. He's a guy that we think has a tremendous upside at the guard/center position. He can bend his knees and move his feet. He's very good in space."

College Career:

2005: Moved to the OL...Appeared in 9 games, starting 4 at RG and 3 at center...Collected 25 knockdown blocks for a Sooner offense that averaged 355.1 yards per game...Played on 398 snaps...Posted 5 TD-resulting blocks.

2004: Used mostly on special teams...Saw minimal action in 2 games.

2003: Appeared in 9 games as a reserve TE...Only stats came on special teams, making 1 tackle.

2002: Played in 7 games as a reserve TE, catching 2 passes for 25 yards (12.5 avg.) and a TD...Caught a 4th-quarter, 14-yard TD pass off a FG at Missouri to give the Sooners a come-from behind victory...Posted an 11-yard catch vs. Texas Tech.

2001: Redshirted as a freshman.

Personal:

Two-time Golden West All-League and 1st-team All Orange County selection by the Los Angeles Times...Chester was rated the 8th-best TE in the nation by Rivals.com during his senior year at Tustin (CA) HS...Gained 815 yards with 11 TDs receiving as a senior, and rushed for 450 yards and 5 scores...Competed as a DE, earning League Defensive Player of the Year honors...Was also an accomplished basketball player and discus thrower...Bench pressed 225 pounds 27 times at the 2006 NFL combine...Political science major at Oklahoma...Chris and his wife, Kirbie, have a 6-month old son, Sean Hendrix...Full name is: Christopher Sean Chester.
