Chris Burkey is in his second season with the Dolphins on a full-time basis and the first in his current role. He was an assistant in the team’s player personnel department last year while serving as an intern in 2005.
Burkey joined the Dolphins following a four-year stint (2001-04) working with the coaching staff at the University of North Carolina. He served as an offensive quality control coach for his first two seasons with the Tar Heels and a graduate assistant his final two years.
Burkey was a four-year letterman (1989-92) as a wide receiver at Wingate University in North Carolina, where he earned his degree in December, 1992. Upon graduation, he served on his alma mater’s coaching staff for six seasons (1993-98) before accepting a position tutoring the wide receivers and heading up the strength program at Tennessee Tech in 1999, a spot he held for two years.
Burkey grew up in Greeneville, Tennessee. He and his wife, Susan, have a son, Ayden. |
