Chris Albrecht, President of IMG Global Media, heads the company's diverse businesses including industry-leading global sports production operations, global rights acquisition and digital media enterprises, as well as IMG Entertainment U.S., Darlow Smithson, Tiger Aspect and Tigress Productions. Mr. Albrecht also serves as a Special Limited Partner in Forstmann Little & Co. where he is working with Ted Forstmann to raise a $250 million investment fund to develop entertainment and media content. Prior to joining IMG, Mr. Albrecht spent more than 20 years at HBO, the world's largest premium television company. Most recently, he served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Home Box Office (HBO) for five years through May 2007, and was responsible for programming and management of HBO’s multiple premium networks in the United States, Europe, Asia and Latin America. Before becoming Chairman in 2002, he spent seven years as president of HBO Original Programming, where he directed all day-to-day operations of West and East Coast original programming for HBO, Cinemax and HBO Independent Productions and also oversaw HBO Sports and HBO Film Programming. Under his leadership, HBO became the leader in innovative entertainment and sports programming with critically-acclaimed series like "Sex and the City," "The Sopranos," "Six Feet Under," "Deadwood," "Band of Brothers" and "Entourage" among many others. From 1990 to 1995, Mr. Albrecht was President of HBO Independent Productions and oversaw development and production of comedy series for distribution on HBO and the networks, including "Martin" and "Everybody Loves Raymond". He joined HBO in 1985 as Senior Vice President, Original Programming, West Coast. Previously, Mr. Albrecht spent five years at International Creative Management, where he signed top comedic talent like Jim Carrey, Keenen Ivory Wayans, Billy Crystal and Whoopi Goldberg. From 1975 to 1980 he was co-owner of The Improvisation nightclub in New York City. Mr. Albrecht received a B.A. degree in dramatic literature from Hofstra University. |
