Charlotte Offerdahl has extensive experience in structuring benefit plans, including retirement plans, executive compensation arrangements and medical, life, disability and other insurance-oriented plans, both subject to and exempt from ERISA. She has represented clients before the Internal Revenue Service, Department of Labor and Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation.
Ms. Offerdahl advises for-profit, nonprofit and governmental clients on developing, implementing and maintaining tax-qualified retirement plans, such as defined benefit plans, including cash balance and pension equity plans, profit-sharing and 401(k) plans and employee stock ownership plans (ESOPs). Her experience includes advising clients on executive compensation programs, including supplemental executive retirement plans (SERPs), deferred compensation plans, severance pay, death benefit plans, § 162 bonus plans, § 457 and other plans of tax-exempt and governmental entities, and other life insurance and split dollar plans.
Ms. Offerdahl also has experience providing employers with advice in other benefit areas, including mergers and acquisitions, medical benefit plans, retiree medical plans, cafeteria plans (including flexible benefit programs and premium conversion), COBRA benefit continuation rights and responsibilities, and approval of compensation for executives of non-profit organizations.
