Charles E. Levine is Chairman of the Board as of April 2006. Mr. Levine serves on five high tech Boards. The companies range from biometrics to wireless, and Mr. Levine focuses on the companies’ responsiveness to customers’ needs.
Mr. Levine has been a member of Sierra Wireless’ board for over three years. He is also on the board of @Road, Inc., a leading global provider of solutions designed to automate the management of mobile resources and to optimize the service delivery process for customers across a variety of industries. In addition, he is on the board of Somera Communications. Somera provides wireless and wireline telecommunications operators with equipment lifecycle management services to extend and manage the life of their mature networks at the lowest cost and greatest return. He has been a Board member of Viisage Technology for six years. Viisage offers solutions that verify identities, create and authenticate secure credentials and provide solutions for reducing identity fraud. Finally, he is a member of Lexar Media’s board. Lexar is a leading manufacturer and marketer of removable flash memory cards, USB flash drives, and card for the digital photography, consumer electronics, industrial and communications markets.
Prior to retirement, Mr. Levine was President of Sprint PCS. In that role, he led the fastest growing Company in history, growing from nothing to over $10 billion in revenue in less than five years. Sprint changed the face of wireless, from an industry catering to the rich to one used by everyone. In 2001, Sprint PCS was named Supercarrier of the Year by Wireless Week, and Levine was named CEO of the Year by Frost & Sullivan.
Mr. Levine served as the Sprint PCS’ chief sales & marketing officer, prior to his presidency, and in 1999, MC Magazine and the New York Times named him their 1999 Marketer of the Year. Prior to Sprint PCS, Levine successfully built new businesses for Octel, AT&T and General Electric, and has been an integral part of business turnarounds. His career began at Procter & Gamble, where he was brand manager for P&G’s largest business, Pampers.
Mr. Levine is originally from Columbus, Ohio. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Trinity College with a major in economics. He received his masters in business administration from Northwestern’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management, graduating at the top of his class. |
