Charles Leonard has provided communications and media relations counsel to a wide range of corporate, public sector and non-profit organizations. Since forming CLS in 1992 (which became an Omnicom company in 2000), his clients have included Arthur Andersen, the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA), several General Electric and Genworth Financial companies, Wells Fargo, DoubleClick, Sun Healthcare Group, Inc., Olsten Corporation, The World Bank, the National Association of Broadcasters, the National Committee on Property Insurance, Kodak, Hewlett-Packard, the Office of the President of Mexico and the Catholic Health Association. Previously, Mr. Leonard was a Managing Director of the Sawyer/Miller Group, a New York and Washington based public relations and advertising agency. While at Sawyer/Miller, Mr. Leonard advised clients such as American Express, Humana, Inc., Shearson-Lehman Brothers, Cablevision, and Fidelity Bankers Life. Prior to joining Sawyer/Miller, Mr. Leonard was the National Campaign Director of the National Republican Congressional Committee during the 1989 - 1990 Congressional term. In that position, he was responsible for the development of campaign strategy and advertising in 50 Congressional campaigns and for coordinating the national campaign efforts of the House Republican Leadership, the White House and Members of the Cabinet. Before joining the Congressional Committee, Mr. Leonard served as a senior campaign advisor to the George Bush for President Committee in 1988, Communications Director for the Committee to Re-elect U.S. Senator Paula Hawkins (R-Florida) in 1986, and held several senior management and communications positions in the State Legislature and in local government in New York State. Mr. Leonard graduated from the State University of New York at Albany and was trained in film and television production at the New York Institute of Technology. |
