Mr. Axelrod is a senior shareholder of ST&G.
Mr. Axelrod attended Colgate University, where he received his B.A., magna cum laude, with honors, in 1963. He received his J.D. from Duke University in 1966. He was admitted to the Order of the Coif and was elected a member of both Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Alpha Delta. Mr. Axelrod was an Editor of the Duke Law Journal from 1965 through 1966. He was admitted to the bar in California in 1967.
Mr. Axelrod has served as Trustee and counsel to the Trustee or Receiver in several Securities Investor Protection Act liquidation proceedings and federal equity receiverships.
His professional activities include serving as a Member of The Practicing Law Institute's Bankruptcy and Creditors Rights Advisory Committee since 1992. Mr. Axelrod has served as a panelist on the ABA Business Law Section Spring Meeting, "Thailand's New Bankruptcy Laws Viewed Through the Thai Petrochemical Industry Plc. Case"; the ABA Business Law Section Spring Meeting, "Cross-Border Bankruptcy Cases-Impact of Proposed Chapter 15", 2000; Fifth Annual Bankruptcy Battleground West of American Bankruptcy Institute, 1997; Norton Bankruptcy Litigation Institute, 1995. In addition, Mr. Axelrod served as a Guest Lecturer at the Financial Executives Institute in 1992 and as a Faculty Member, "Bankruptcy: Is It The Best Way Out?" Prentice Hall Twelfth Annual Institute and Acquisitions and Takeovers in 1990. He was Recording Secretary of the UCC Committee, Business Law Section, for the State Bar of California, from 1977 through 1980 and a Faculty Member of the Practicing Law Institute, Secured Creditors in Bankruptcy, 1977. He has been a Member of the Board of Governors, for the years 1974 through 1979, and since 1981. He served as Secretary and Treasurer, (1975-1980), Vice-President (1980), and President (1981) for the Financial Lawyers Conference.
In 2000, he served as a Panel Moderator for the ABA Business Law Section Fall Meeting, "Benefits of Creditors' Committee Membership."
Before joining Stutman, Treister & Glatt, Mr. Axelrod was a partner of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher and practiced in its Corporate Department. In that capacity, he represented Fortune 500 companies as well as most of the major underwriting houses.
Mr. Axelrod is a member of the following additional organizations: Los Angeles County (Member, Sections on: Corporate Law; Commercial Law; Bankruptcy) and American (Member, Section on Business Law, Committee on Business Bankruptcy, Subcommittee on International Bankruptcy, Subcommittee on Bankruptcy Committees and Subcommittee on Trust Indentures and Claims Trading) Bar Associations, Pacific Rim Insolvency Working Group. During 1978-79 he served as Chairman of the Committee on Bankruptcy Specialization, Business Law Section of The State Bar of California.
