Dr. Charles R. Wasaff - Chairman, CEO and President
Dr. Wasaff is responsible for the overall direction, actions and goals of the company.
Professional Experience
Dr. Wasaff has over 25 years of experience and leadership in the aerospace, communications, defense and information technology industries. As a senior executive Dr. Wasaff has extensive experience in providing program management and corporate expertise in leading a range of space, communications, remote-sensing and information systems groups. Dr. Wasaff was appointed Chairman, President and CEO of AVII in September 2004 and has served as an AstroVision Board Member since January 2001.
Dr. Wasaff has served as a Senior Advisor to SpaceVest since October 1997 where he applies his experience in program management, business development, operations, and technology. He has served both as an officer and director for other SpaceVest portfolio companies, managing business venture opportunities in remote-sensing and wireless communications companies.
In prior years, Dr. Wasaff was Vice President for Space Programs at Loral, where he was responsible for the coordination of interdivisional business development initiatives in space-based instrumentation, communications and spacecraft development. With Ford Aerospace, later acquired by Loral, he served concurrently in two senior executive positions as Group Vice President for the Space Missions Group, an organization that performed communication systems integration in support of the command and control of space systems; and as Vice President for Corporate Business Development, responsible for Òfront endÓ business development, planning and strategic investments.
Previously, he was Executive Vice President of the BDM Corporation, an Information Technology Company that was a wholly owned subsidiary of Ford Aerospace. Prior to BDMÕs acquisition by Ford Aerospace, Dr. Wasaff served as the Senior Vice President for Advanced Studies and Market Development for BDM, overseeing major operations within the company as well as business development, marketing and sales.
Additionally, he served on the Engineering Advisory Board of the National Science Foundation. Dr. Wasaff received his BS and MS Degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame, and his PhD in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley. He is a co-author of a monograph on Arms Control and Strategy, and has contributed to several reports in the areas of operations research, modeling and simulation, test and evaluation, radar detection of low cross-section targets, and weapons effects. |
