Charles L. Szews is the President and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Oshkosh Truck Corporation. He joined the company in 1996 as vice president and CFO was appointed executive vice president in October 1997 and appointed to his current position in October 2007.
Mr. Szews has been a key member of the company's management team and responsible for executing the company's strategy of growth and diversification through accretive acquisitions. He led Oshkosh's acquisitions and related financing of Pierce Manufacturing a leading fire truck manufacturer in 1996; of McNeilus Companies Inc. a leading manufacturer of refuse truck bodies and concrete mixers in 1998; and of the Geesink Norba Group a leading European manufacturer of refuse truck bodies in 2001. These acquisitions contributed over $1.1 billion in annual revenues to the company and each was accretive within the first year. Mr. Szews has broad responsibility for finance mergers and acquisitions investor relations strategic planning and information services functions.
Prior to joining Oshkosh Mr. Szews spent eight years with Fort Howard Corporation holding a series of increasingly responsible positions most recently as vice president and controller. He performed a key role in numerous large financing transactions at Fort Howard including a $3.6 billion leveraged buy-out high-yield offerings and equity offerings.
Mr. Szews holds a bachelor's degree summa cum laude in business administration from the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire. He received his certified public accountant certification in 1980 and has 10 years of independent auditing experience with Ernst & Young. |
