Charles L. Gummer is president and chief executive officer of Comerica Bank's Texas Market. He also serves as a member of the Management Policy Committee and Management Council of Comerica Incorporated.
Mr. Gummer joined Comerica Bank in Michigan in 1970. He held management positions in the commercial loan, middle market banking and metropolitan corporate banking departments, managing all of metropolitan corporate banking prior to relocating to Texas. When Comerica Incorporated acquired Grand Bancshares of Dallas in 1988, Mr. Gummer joined Grand Bancshares' executive management team and its board of directors. He was appointed president and chief executive officer of Comerica Bank-Texas in 1989.
Mr. Gummer received a bachelor of science degree from Ohio State University in 1969 and an MBA from Wayne State University in 1973. He graduated from the University of Michigan's Graduate School of Banking and Financial Services in 1983.
Mr. Gummer currently serves as a member of the Dallas Citizens Council, Dallas Summer Musicals executive committee, Executive Board of the Southern Methodist University Cox School of Business, the Better Business Bureau of Dallas Board, the North Texas Business Committee for the Arts, the Vogel Alcove Arts Performance Committee, Greater Dallas Chamber of Commerce and its Economic Development Advisory Committee, and advisory committee of Bishop Lynch High School and board member of Dallas Medical Resources and The Catholic Foundation.
The United Way of Metropolitan Dallas, Dallas Summer Musicals, the Better Business Bureau of Dallas, United Negro College Fund, Dallas Affordable Housing Partnership, and Texas Bankers Association Regional Bankers Council have all benefitted from his leadership as Chairman. He also has served as a member of the board of directors of the Southwestern Graduate School of Banking and the Executive Council of the Thanksgiving Foundation.
