Charles H. Cannon, Jr. was named Vice President of FMC Technologies, Inc. in February 2001 and was appointed Senior Vice President in March 2004. Prior to the formation of FMC Technologies, he was elected a vice president of FMC Corporation in October 1994, after being named general manager of FMC's Food Machinery Group in September 1994. In 1998 the business group was renamed FMC FoodTech and he also assumed responsibility for FMC's Airport Products and Systems Division.
Cannon joined FMC at its Chicago headquarters in 1982 as a senior business planner in the Corporate Development Department. In 1983 he moved to Minneapolis to become materials manager for the company's Armament Systems Division. Cannon returned to Chicago in 1986 as director of business development for Food Machinery Group's Food Processing Systems Division. In 1987, he was named sales and marketing manager of the group's Citrus Machinery and Services Division, and was appointed general manager of the division in 1989. From April 1992 until September 1994, he served as general manager of Food Processing Systems Division.
Cannon received a bachelor of science degree in physics from the U.S. Naval Academy and a master of business administration degree from the University of Chicago. He was with the U.S. Navy from 1975 to 1980, where he served as nuclear attack submarine officer and as aide to the Deputy Chief of Naval Operations.
Cannon serves on the board of directors of the Standex International Corporation, National Food Processors Association and the European Food Processing Machinery Association. He and his wife, Teresa, have two children and live in Wilmette, Ill.
