Charles C. Blaylock, Founder of 12 Oaks, was born into a long line of real estate developers. Raised in Dallas he graduated from Southern Methodist University in Dallas in 1958 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
In 1963, Charles Blaylock entered into partnership with his brother Lloyd D. Blaylock, and formed Heritage Manor, Inc., building and operating nursing homes throughout the state of Texas. Heritage Manor was sold in 1982.
In 1983, Blaylock recognizing the need for quality housing for those frail but active Seniors not requiring nursing services, developed the concept of 12 Oaks Retirement Villages. In November of 1984, a 121-unit, full-service Independent Living community for the Seniors known as 12 Oaks Retirement Village Irving, opened in Irving, Texas. In 1988, 12 Oaks Retirement Village East opened in East Dallas. Due to demand, both properties were expanded to include Assisted Living Services. The Blaylock family sold the properties in July of 1998.
Mr. Blaylock has held board positions with C.C. Young Retirement Community, Royal Oaks Country Club and various other charitable, civic, and business community organizations. He is active in his church, where he serves on several committees and participates in the choir.
