Charles C. Chuck Grindstaff is executive vice president, Products, for UGS PLM Software (UGS), a division of Siemens Automation and Drives (A&D). UGS is a leading global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services with 4.4 million licensed seats and 47,000 customers worldwide. Grindstaff and his group are responsible for all UGS PLM Software products, including creation, improvement, competitiveness and quality.
Grindstaff began his association with UGS in 1978, when he joined the Unigraphics Solutions research and development team, holding various leadership positions. Unigraphics Solutions was engaged in the sales, service and development of software technology to support the automation of product engineering and manufacturing engineering processes.
Grindstaff left Unigraphics in 1988 to revolutionize the application of digital processes for film-making. As president and CEO of Waveframe, Grindstaff developed and manufactured digital signal processing systems for high-end motion picture applications. He was recently awarded a Scientific and Engineering Award from the Motion Picture Academy of the Arts and Sciences for this ground breaking work and its long-term impact on the industry.
He returned to Unigraphics in 1994 in strategic planning, became director of the Unigraphics product business unit in 1997 and vice president of Unigraphics products and operations in 2000. In 2001, Unigraphics merged with Structural Dynamics Research Corporation (SDRC) to form the PLM line of business at EDS later known as UGS PLM Solutions, where Grindstaff continued to serve as vice president of Products.
Grindstaff received a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from Pomona College in Claremont, Calif.
He enjoys skiing, sailing, cycling and hiking. Grindstaff lives in Dallas with his wife, Randi, and children Gillian, Abigail and Russell. |
