Charles O’Mara is the Senior Vice President of Finance and Administration at The Culinary Institute of America (CIA). Mr. O’Mara is responsible for all of the college’s financial affairs, including its $85 million annual operating budget; payroll; student accounts; management information systems; campus facilities and maintenance; purchasing and inventory; legal affairs and insurance; and the five public restaurants on campus.
Prior to joining the CIA administration as controller in 1982, Mr. O’Mara was Assistant University Budget Director at Fairleigh Dickenson University in Rutherford, NJ.
A Certified Public Accountant (C.P.A.), Mr. O’Mara is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the New Jersey State Society of C.P.A.s, and the National Association of College and University Business Officers. In addition, he serves as Chairman of the Eastern Association of College and University Business Officers (EACUBO) New York Metropolitan Area Programming Committee.
Mr. O’Mara earned his Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) in accounting and taxation from Fairleigh Dickenson University in 1980 and his Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from St. Francis University in Loretto, Pennsylvania in 1977.
