Cecilia Feliu Carrizo. has been Manager of Human Resources with the Central Bank of Chile since February 2004.
She has a Bachelor of Commerce degree (Ingeniería Comercial) with a mention in Economics, from the University of Chile (1985), and MBA studies at the ESMA in Barcelona, Spain (1985-1986).
Before assuming this position, she worked in the Central Bank as head of the Research Department (1996), a unit that, in mid-2003, became the Department of Conjunctural Assessment (Departamento de Análisis de Coyuntura). In this post she was responsible for coordinating and editing the Monetary Policy Report (IPoM) and the Minutes of the monthly Monetary Policy Meetings. She also represented the Central Bank to IMF missions on issues dealing with monetary information.
In 2000, the Board appointed her the Executive Secretary to the President, a position she held concurrently with her functions in the Research Department, becoming responsible for coordinating pre-Board sessions, among other additional activities. She also worked with the vice-president in designing and discussing Central Bank Guidelines.
Previously, she headed the Research Department’s Monetary Area (1992), which she joined as an Economic Analyst (1988). She also worked on developing the 1986 baseline Product Input Matrix, in the National Accounts Office (1987).
Mrs. Feliú has participated in preparing many publications on methodologies for calculating and analyzing the real exchange rate, currency baskets used to determine the nominal exchange rate, currency benchmarks for international reserves, monetary and financial statistics. She has also formed part of several analytical and discussion groups dealing with communications policy and central bank transparency in different countries.
She has attended seminars and courses on macroeconomic, monetary and foreign exchange issues offered by different bodies, among them the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, the National Bank of Switzerland, the Bundesbank and the Central Bank of Argentina. |
