Ms. Gawne has been practicing corporate and securities law of over 25 years. In June 2007 she joined
the respected law firm of Hopkins & Carley in San Jose California. Prior to that she had been a
shareholder and co-chair of the Corporate & Securities Group of Silicon Valley Law Group in San Jose
California since 1999.
Her practice emphasizes securities and corporate law for emerging growth companies across a broad
range of industries including wireless and portable information technologies telecommunications and
software as well as "brick and mortar" industries such as automotive mining and retail. She advises
companies on initial and follow-on public offerings mergers acquisition leveraged buyouts joint ventures
and commercial transactions. She counsels public and private companies on corporate governance and
disclosure issues and counsels clients who are starting or franchising new businesses with respect to
general corporate matters and protection of their intellectual property. Ms. Gawne also represents several
nonprofit corporations and counsels them on corporate structure and governance.
In addition to her duties at Hopkins & Carley she served as a past President of the Association for
Corporate Growth's Silicon Valley Chapter (and continues to serve as a Board member of that
organization) she is a member of the Executive Team of the San Jose Professional Women's Leads Club
and serves on the Executive Committee of the Business Law Section of the Santa Clara County Bar. In
addition she is a member of the advisory board of Semotus Solutions (a publicly traded wireless solutions
company) is a member of the Dean's Advisory Board of Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont
California and serves as a director of the Women in Technology Foundation the Center for Healthy
Development and Dean's Automotive Inc.
She has also received a number of awards and special recognitions such as the "Northern California
Super Lawyers" (San Francisco Magazine and Law & Politics Media) the YWCA Tribute to Women (TWIN)
Award was a finalist for Silicon Valley Business Journal's Women of Distinction Award Co-Member of the
Year of the San Jose Professional Women's Leads Club and was the recipient of the Women in Business
Award from San Jose Magazine.
