Cary M. Greene is an associate in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP based in the Washington, D.C. office. He is a member of the Firm’s Alcohol Beverages & Products Practice Group, where he concentrates his practice on winery law and regulation as well as in trade practice and distribution.
Prior to joining McDermott, Cary worked at a Virginia vineyard and winery and for the national small wineries trade association, WineAmerica. Additionally, he was a contributing writer to the Virginia Wine Gazette, where he updated readers on the events of the States’ wine industry. Cary has also co-authored articles on legal issues affecting the industry that have appeared in Vineyard & Winery Management and the Washington Legal Foundation’s Legal Backgrounder. In November 2004, Cary served as moderator for a panel on direct shipment of wine, sponsored by WineAmerica, in anticipation of oral arguments on the subject before the Supreme Court. He has also been a featured lecturer on the regulation of wine in the wake of the Supreme Court decision, Granholm v. Heald. Cary was previously with McDermott as a summer associate in 2004.
Cary is admitted to practice in Georgia and the District of Columbia.
