Carol C. Lapidus, CPA, is a Partner at Goldstein Golub Kessler LLP. She has served clients as accountant and consultant for more than 20 years. In 1994, while at Goldstein Golub Kessler & Company, P.C., she became the first woman in the firm's history to be voted into the partnership. Ms. Lapidus primarily serves middle-market public and privately held businesses. Her primary area of industry expertise is textile and apparel, working with importers, designers, manufacturers and retailers. She also serves hedge funds, not-for-profits and promotional services firms, including e-commerce, telemarketing, advertising and photography. A specialist in strategic planning, Ms. Lapidus prepares business, financial and strategic plans. She advises clients on organizational structure, international issues, cost-cutting opportunities, inventory management, licensing and long-term planning needs. She also assists her clients in identifying, negotiating and securing financing and equity. A frequent speaker at the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants ("NYSSCPA"), Ms. Lapidus has chaired Leadership Conferences and Retail Accounting Conferences. Currently she chairs the Member Benefits committee of the NYSSCPA. Until expiration of her term in 2003, she was Vice President in charge of Strategic Planning and served on the NYSSCPA Board of Directors as well as its Executive Committee. Ms. Lapidus has chaired the NYSSCPA's Membership Committee, Committee on Committee Operations, General Committee on Accounting and Auditing and Retail Committee and has served on the Apparel and Textile Committee. Her speaking engagements also include the National Association of Credit Managers, the Women's Presidents Organization and the New York Credit and Financial Management Association on topics including financial statement analysis and review. Ms. Lapidus regularly conducts Continuing Professional Education sessions for the firm's managing directors and professional staff on accounting and auditing issues. Other professional affiliations of Ms. Lapidus include the Financial Women's Association of New York, Fashion Group International, National Association of Women Business Owners, Women's Presidents Organization and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Ms. Lapidus earned her B.S. in accounting with honors from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
