Carol Smith was named Senior Vice President, Chief Brand Officer, ELLE Group in March of 2009. Working to expand the brand and ensure continuity across all platforms, Smith oversees ELLE and ELLE.com's advertising/sales as well as ELLE's Editorial department. Smith came to ELLE in 2002 as SVP Group and Publishing Director and has since expanded the ELLE brand to include newsstand specials, retail and entertainment divisions, numerous television partnerships (including Bravo’s Project Runway), a re-launch of ELLE.com and ELLE’s own television series Stylista. Under Smith’s direction, ELLE was honored in Advertising Age’s "The A List" in 2006, 2007 and 2008, in recognition of the largest increase in ad pages among its competition and its huge growth in newsstand sales. ELLE was also named one of Top 10 Brand Blazers of 2006 and 2008 by Mediaweek, earning praise for the brand’s massive power and recognition. In 2008, Smith was named Advertising Age’s Executive of the Year and in 2009 was named Magazine Publisher of The Year by The Delaney Report. |
