Since September 1998, Carmen serves as Deputy General Manager for the Madrid-based group of companies SERMEPA/ServiRed/Visa España/SEMP. She started by heading up the departments of Business Development (sales of SERMEPA´s technology chip operating systems and applications, processing software, electronic commerce platforms, etc.- ), Marketing, and Risk Management and Security. In January 2001 two new departments were added to her list of initial responsibilities: Operations and Technical Relations with Financial Institutions and Other Card Processors. Since October 2002, she also has responsibilities for Internal Organization of the group of companies.She is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Spanish Electronic Commerce Association, a member of SERMEPA/ServiRed/Visa España/SEMP Management Executive Committee, and heads up several Spanish domestic working groups. She also is a member of the Mobipay España Marketing Group. (Mobipay is a Spanish company which has been formed by Telcos and Financial Institutions to expand the current payment market via a new payment infrastructure which combines the mobile phone and the payment card). Before the position above, she worked at the Visa International´s headquarters in the San Francisco Bay Area as Director within the Commercial Products area, mainly heading up the development efforts for the small business line of products and the products launch in several countries. Prior to that, she was an Associate Investment Banking Officer at Bank of America´s Latin America and Canada Corporate Finance Department in San Francisco. She also worked as a Financial Analyst at Banesto´s Investment Banking Department in Madrid, Spain, and at Banesto´s Trade Finance Department in Milan, Italy.She holds a MBA from the University of California at Berkeley, a Bachelor´s Degree in Linguistics from the University of Salamanca in Spain and has studied several courses in Business at Harvard University and at Luigi Bocconi Business School (Milan). She is fluent in Spanish, English and Italian. Among all her hobbies, she highlights traveling, living in other countries, learning languages, and getting to know other cultures. |
