Mr. Thomas has spent the previous 23 years managing and investing private equity acting as CEO for several turnaround opportunities, raising capital for early stage and mature businesses, and advising companies on strategic direction.
Currently, he is managing director of Talisen Capital, a newly formed private equity firm, and since 2003 has been a principal at Holding Capital, a thirty year old asset management and private equity firm with over 2 billion under management. His primary investment focus has been in the restaurant and food service industries. Prior to Holding Capital, Mr. Thomas was a founder and managing director of Daymark Capital, a private equity firm focused on early stage companies. He sold his interest to his partner in 2003 to join Holding Capital.
Between 1989 and 1996, Mr. Thomas led the turnaround effort for the JC Penney Shopping Network for the JC Penney Company. Through Mr. Thomas's efforts in improving operational efficiency and profitability, JCPTV was sold to the QVC shopping channel on very favorable terms. During this period, 1984 to 1999, he also aided several private technology companies in Silicon Valley to raise capital in both U.S. and Europe. In addition, Mr. Thomas served as CEO for BrainCo, a Dutch game company, for which he raised operating capital, reorganized their product line, and hired new senior management. The company was sold to an investor group in the Netherlands.
Mr. Thomas was a member of HBO's roll-out management team and a member of senior management for HBO's sister company ATC (now Time Warner Cable) from 1979 to 1984. After graduating from Texas Christian University with an accounting and finance degree, Mr. Thomas went to work for Price Waterhouse & Co. as a member of their audit staff. |
