Carlos M. Farah, co-founded Appelrouth, Farah & Co. in 1985. His areas of practice include financial, compliance and fraud audits and special report assignments for privately owned and not-for-profit enterprises as well as government agencies. In addition, he has extensive experience in representing clients in income, sales, use and property tax examinations brought forth by the Internal Revenue Service and Florida Department of Revenue. Mr. Farah also has assisted clients in restructuring debt and has assisted Debtor-in-Possession during Chapter 11 reorganization proceedings.
His financial, compliance and fraud audit experience includes involvement with internal control structures, compliance with Federal and State regulations and detection of errors, irregularities, illegal acts including fraud and defalcations. Special report assignments have included projections, forecasts, budgets, cash flows and break-even analysis. Mr. Farah, in representing his clients, has become familiar with the rules and regulations that govern taxing authorities such as the Internal Revenue Service and the Florida Department of Revenue. His Chapter 11 Reorganization experience includes involvement with Plan of Reorganization, income, sales, use and property tax examinations and accounting and tax compliance.
Mr. Farah also has extensive experience in management consulting and corporate business planning, including design of inventory, cost control systems, debt management and venture capital. Additionally, he is the firm's Peer Review Coordinator and liaison for the American and Florida Institutes of Certified Public Accountants as well as the Private Companies Practice Section of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
Mr. Farah was a senior accountant at the Miami office of KPMG Peat, Marwick LLP, where he began his accounting career in 1980. He was a supervisor at Kaufman, Rossin & Co. in 1985 prior to founding Appelrouth, Farah & Co.
Mr. Farah was born in Havana, Cuba and is fluent in English and Spanish. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Florida Atlantic University, where he was on the President's Honor Roll. His professional certifications include Certified Public Accountant, Certified Fraud Examiner. Mr. Farah's professional affiliations include the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, Association of Insolvency Accountants and the American Bankruptcy Institute. His organization affiliations include Florida Atlantic University Alumni Association, Florida State University Alumni Association, Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church and the Latin Chamber of Commerce of Broward County. |
