Carla is an inorganic chemist, and received her Ph.D. in 1998. During her Ph.D., Carla worked on the study of new catalytic systems for the metathesis of functionalized olefins, like esters and nitriles. After finishing the Ph.D., she joined the faculty at "Centro Universitario UNIVATES" in Brazil, where she taught general and inorganic chemistry courses worked on administrative functions, such as the installation and coordination of Pharmacy, Chemistry and Ambiental Engineering undergraduating courses, and was the department head for three years. Her research focus was always on catalytic systems for several applications on oleochemistry, and in 2005 she joined Victor Lin's group at Iowa State University on researching new technologies for biodiesel production. She now works at Catilin as a Research Scientist where she is responsible for driving the production and research of heterogeneous catalysts. |
