Carl O. Pabo, Ph.D. chairs our Scientific Advisory Board. Dr. Pabo is currently a Visiting Professor in Systems Biology at the Harvard Medical School. He served as Senior Vice President and Chief Scientific Officer of Sangamo from October 2001 to July 2003. Prior to joining the company, he was a Professor of Biophysics and Structural Biology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an Investigator in the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. Dr. Pabo is a pioneer in the structural analysis and modification of zinc finger DNA-binding proteins and has made many of the fundamental observations as to how ZFPs interact with their DNA-binding sites. Dr. Pabo received a Ph.D. in biochemistry and molecular biology from Harvard University and a B.S. in molecular biophysics and biochemistry from Yale College. He is a member of the National Academy of Sciences and of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
