Carl A. Aveni, II
Business Litigation
Mr. Aveni is a business litigator and trial attorney, concentrating his practice upon the defense of complex commercial litigation and business torts. His experience includes the trial of major litigation matters before regulatory agencies as well as state and federal courts. Mr. Aveni has successfully argued before the Ohio Supreme Court and The United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Appellate Circuit, as well as before numerous state courts of appeal. Before joining Carlile Patchen & Murphy LLP, he practiced at Porter, Wright, Morris, & Arthur, LLP in Columbus and Reed Smith Shaw & McClay, LLP in Philadelphia. Mr. Aveni is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association, the Defense Research Institute, the National Association of Railroad Trial Counsel, and The Franklin American Inn of Court.
Mr. Aveni received his law degree in 1996 from the Boston University School of Law, where he graduated with honors and served as Editor of the Law Review. He received his undergraduate degree in 1991 from The American University in Washington, D.C. From 2001-2004, Mr. Aveni served on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of the Columbus Speech & Hearing Center. In 2005, he was a co-founder of Caring Paws, an organization that provided more than 4,400 new and gently used stuffed animals to children displaced by Hurricane Katrina.
