Except for a six-month leave of absence, during which he served as a Maricopa County Public Defender in Phoenix, Arizona, since 1980 he has actively litigated cases in all Nevada courts, state and federal. He has tried cases to the court and to a jury and argued before the Nevada Supreme Court and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Upon graduation from Princeton University in 1969, Cam accepted a commission in the U.S. Navy and served in the Submarine Force for four years. He then settled in Arizona, where he supervised the installation of a rural water utility system before attending Arizona State University School of Law. In 1980, upon graduation from law school, Cam moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, to work for Lionel Sawyer & Collins.
