Byron Webre can be seen every weeknight at 5, 6 and 10 on CBS 42 News. Before coming to Austin, Byron was Chief Meteorologist at WLWT-TV in Cincinnati. But Byron is very familiar with the unique challenges of forecasting weather in Texas because earlier in his meteorological career he also worked at KSAT-TV San Antonio, KTAB-TV Abilene, KFDA-TV Amarillo and KOSA-TV, in Odessa. You could call Byron a citizen of the world because at one time or another he has lived in Germany, Okinawa and Turkey. Here in the U.S., he has lived in Texas, Ohio, Oklahoma, Minnesota and Tennessee. Byron is a graduate of Texas A&M University where he earned two degrees -- meteorology and engineering. Byron and his wife Amy were married in Oct. 1996 and have two children, Drake and Dawson. They also have a four-legged family member -- a Shih Tzu named Presley. Byron's professional achievements include covering the aftermath of the May, 1999 tornadoes near Oklahoma City and appearing on national television with Willard Scott while he worked at WBIR-TV in Knoxville, Tennessee. Some of his proudest moments were when he earned the AMS and NWA seals of approval for his television weather forecasting work. |
