Mr. Mitchell is an officer and a member of the Firm’s Medical Malpractice trial teams. He has ten years of experience in defending medical professionals throughout Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia. Since 1994, Mr. Mitchell has represented health care providers covering the gamut of the medical profession, ranging from registered nurses, physical therapists, and physicians from nearly every subspecialty, to local community hospitals, nationwide health maintenance organizations, and the country’s largest physical therapy provider. He has taken hundreds of depositions in complex medical malpractice cases and tried, as first and second chair, fifteen cases to verdict, both in Federal and State Courts in the Commonwealth of Virginia and elsewhere. Prior to joining LeClairRyan, P.C. in January 2005, Mr. Mitchell was in practice at one of the largest insurance defense firms in the country concentrating in the area of medical professional liability. He is a member of the Virginia State Bar, the Maryland State Bar, and the District of Columbia Bar.
